Paris Live Brief
For the Paris Live Brief we were told to produce a body of sampling, with the theme of stitch. I began by experimenting with the pintuck foot, forming samples of repetition and linear effects. I found that by using the sewing machines to create the marks I was looing the sensitivity of the lines, as a result I began a series of hand-stitched samples, through the use of hand-stitch I had more control over the effect of the mark making. I find that the direct handling of the fabric and stitching encouraged my reflection of the subject of time, and the repetitive nature of the stitching formed an invisible line of taking time to make time.
With the time consuming nature of hand sewing, I found that the nature of the Brief didn't allow enough time for, however it did encourage me to push the production of the making to form a finalised piece, as a result I found setting my own dealines was useful and something I think I should apply in particular to the more time consuming work.
