Chaplaincy Commission

I decided to put forward a selection of my sampling for the Oxford Road Chaplaincy Commission. I spent time photographing  and contemplating the space. Upon visiting the space we were made aware that the themes that would be most desirable to the panel were that of transformation and light. I was initially interested in the window coving space, as it had good natural lighting, my intention was to create a series of light reflective moveable mirrors casting the light upon the far left wall. However as the space is occassionally left unattended any expensive tecnical equipment could have been impractical. I therefore decided to pitch the samples I had been working on for the Paris Brief as a series of five seperate panels that would create a continuum of the artwork upon the wall in the form of linear shadows.
I found imagining the effect the work would have in the space, so it was suggested that I visited the Mira Schendel exhibition at Tate Modern and to observe the way in which her work forms a relationship with the space. from visiting the exhibiton I felt full of inspiration to create samples in relation to the idea of the visibility of the invisible.
From receiveing feedback of the Pitch I was told that my work was more appropriate as an Installation for a Gallery Space and would not have been practical as a permenant installation for the commission. Refelcting on the feedback, I shall research further into the differences of an art installation and an art commission.
