Film Manipulation

Having researched such film makers as Tarkovsky and Bill Viola they each seem to express themes concerning obscurities of light and the passage of time within their films and also their photography and installation pieces. These are theme I have explored within my own film making, having no previous filming experience I was unaware of what to results to expect. Although within the work of each of these artits is a sense of purity and the ability to capture a moment naturally. My intention through the films was to use my textile samples as moveable forms, therfore creating a cycle of time, light, process and transformation. In order to progress my filming skills and knowledge, I would like to create a series of textile installations and prject films or slide project images casting an obscured light upon the installation of samples. I can imagine this type of installation being most suited to a gallery or museum environment, perhaps a site specific piece forming a collective narrative integrating different mediums.

Andrei Tarkovsky, 'Instant Light Polaroids'.

Bill Viola, 'The Veiling'. 1995- video still.
