Faded Journey Imagery

Reflecting on previous projects, I began documenting imagery I would usually dismiss or filter from my memory. I decided to photograph these mundane situations, increasing the exposure to represent the fading of the image and how the act of photography will preserve these images forever in my memory.

As I am considering the idea of forming memory boxes, I selected some of these images and encased them within a cube form made from gesso coated fabric, sealed with masking fluid.

I was recently approached by the arts for health team, from LCC museums who are currently planning a possible commission for an artist or several artists to produce a series of interactive memory boxes that would be used as learning tools and as objects of reflection for dementia sufferers. As my work and concepts over the past twelve months have predominantly considered themes of memory and memory loss.
As the age range is particularly broad, and each memory in time is different for each individual, my intention is to consider quite mundane, everyday situations these people have found themselves in and to document these memories considering the filtering process.
