Memory Filters

Memories reflect their embedded content, they are opaque..

My research into the subject of memory earasing lead me to discover such texts as 'Memory Images' by Seigfried Kracauer within which he says 'Memory encompasses neither the entire spatial appearance of a state of affairs nor its entire temporal course', this therefore puts emphasis on the idea of memory as an obscurity.
I began my invesitgation into the theme of memory filtration by forming layers of translucent screens made from translucent papers in response to the Memory images text, in particular:

'The meaning of memory is linked to their throuth content. So long as they are embedded in the uncontrolled life of the drives, they are inhabited by a demonic ambiguity; they are opaque, like frosted glass which scarcely a ray of light can penetrate. Their transparency increses to the extent that insights thin out the vegetation of the soul and limit the compulsion of nature.'

My intention would be to display these images as a collective journey of a narrative (Zines), potraying light and memory reflection, developing into a light installation creating intrigue through the obscurity of the layers.
