I have been observing the levels of luminosity in the apartment block opposite where I am currently living. When in darkness they appear to form luminous panels in a series and each night the pattern of the series is altered. Through photography I have documented this, also with image manipulation I blocked out some of darkness surrounding the lights with negative photographic paint, layering negatives, forming links between materiality and process. For me it is importnant to source appropriate materials that have strong links to the current concept of light, and to apply them to my sampling in alternative ways.
Recently having researching the ideas surrounding inhuman memory, and the process of forming images without the use of a machine. Using sunography paper I was able to trap light within the image and expose the negative spacing within it. Other photographers using similar tecniques include Gary Fabian Miller who explores the possibilities of image making with light itslef. Producing 'shadow catchers'
